Flower, Seed and Leaf Essences

Dr Edward Bach was the first doctor to determine that treating the emotional state of a patient was paramount to healing their physical ailments. He said in 1934 “There is no true healing unless there is a change in outlook, peace of mind, and inner happiness.”

Dr Edward Bach was a brilliant and successful doctor in London: House Surgeon at the University College Hospital, consulting rooms in Harley Street, bacteriologist and later a pathologist he worked on vaccines and created a set of homeopathic nosodes (remedy created from the pathogen causing an illness) still known as the seven Bach nosodes.

Over time he became dissatisfied with having to concentrate on diseases and ignore the people who were suffering them. So in 1930 he gave up his lucrative Harley Street practice and left London, determined to find a new system of medicine in nature. He also decided to abandon the scientific methods and rely on his intuition to guide him.

Thus he found that essences made of certain flowers have a resonance to particular emotional states. He discovered that when he treated the personalities and feelings of his patients their physical distress would resolve as result of the natural healing potential being unblocked in their bodies.

Dr Bach’s system of flower remedies is now used all over the world. Additionally, in recent years other flower essence repertories have been added to the ones he first discovered, to the point of there being hundreds of essences now available, many of them well documented. Recently, people have begun experimenting with creating essences from seeds and leaves as well with very specific results.

In my nutrition practice I primarily use the Bach Flower Essences. When I feel that a client fails to improve to our expectation despite both our efforts to bring about changes for the better, I will use a flower remedy or combination remedy to help unblock the obstacle to healing. I have developed five essences myself, three from flowers, one from a seed pod and one from falling leaves. This combination is a very potent remedy which I use during acufloral treatment as either part of Deep Healing or by itself when indicated.

Acufloral treatment consists of using the flower essence combination on specific meridian points. Using the acupressure points allows the vibrational information carried by the flower essence to get into the energy stream very quickly. These flower, leaf and seed essences correspond to the Chinese five elements, the organs and meridians associated with them and the functions and emotions they are responsible for according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. The combined powers of these essences allow you to let go of stored counter-productive emotions and behavior patterns; to find the resources you need in yourself; to enable you to create in the real world that which you need; to realize your true self and act in alignment with it without fear; and to find within yourself the inexhaustible source of love, acceptance, joy and abundance that is your birthright.
