64 percent
of adults age 20 years and over are overweight or obese. This is a rapidly growing
population. Contrary to popular belief, obesity for the most part does not result
simply from overeating and lack of exercise. Weight issues are now understood
as a function of underlying problems which, when corrected, will dissolve by themselves
and weight will return to normal.
Many overweight people fight hard to
lose the excess pounds. You may already have tried several different diets, just
to regain all of your lost weight and probably more. So you know that diets don't
work in the long run because they don't address the underlying issues and as a
result you regain your loss as soon as you stop the diet.
Weight gain can actually
indicate various physical or psychological conditions. There may possibly be a toxic load (from mercury, heavy metals, candida and others), in which case, to protect itself, the body seals these toxins within fat cells and no amount of dieting will make it release.
Through the
use of questionnaires and discussions we will determine whether thyroid or other
evaluations are indicated, and begin teasing apart the probable reasons for your
weight gain. Subsequently, we will work with nutrition and functional foods*,
perhaps supplements as well, that will result in the rebalancing of your metabolism
and, consequently, weight loss. As result, you will feel better and have more
energy.
